English IV


English IV involves the study of British literature.  From Old English to Modern Literature, we read about everything from monsters and knights to oodles of poems about love, life, and nature. We cover it all!  We also spend a  few weeks studying the work of Shakespeare, particularly Macbeth.  We learn about and study the works of multiple writers.

Other activities include vocabulary and writing.  Research writing is the focus as we work to become more adept at MLA format.  We even try to team up with other academic classes to do a couple of "shared" papers.

The final portion of the year is spent preparing for life after high school.  We research and write papers about careers.  We interview professionals in various careers.  We develop resumes, cover letters, and reference sheets.  We also practice writing thank you notes, business letters, and letters of complaint. We sometimes practice filling out applications for different jobs.
